For the past several years, educators in Florida have been bombarded with mandates from legislators, the business world, global cultures, social issues, concerned and unconcerned parents, and restless students.  We have found ourselves wandering in a world that we hardly recognize anymore.  Teachers face a very different classroom than the one they imagined, and curriculum leaders face the monumental task of providing the resources and support to make those teachers effective.  Florida’s Council of Language Arts Supervisors (CLAS) was organized to build strength among those administrators and specialists who are responsible for supervising, coordinating, and promoting effective English language arts instruction across the state.

CLAS assumes a leadership role by supplementing the work of the Florida Department of Education, the Florida Council of Teachers of English, the Florida Reading Supervisors, and the Florida Reading Association.  Members of CLAS are afforded the opportunity to act as a professional group to advocate for excellence, equity, and enhancement in language arts instruction.

This website offers access to information, resources, and support.  Welcome to CLAS!
